GAME VIEWING Covering an area of approximately 1 000 ha, the Buffelspruit Nature Reserve is situated along the Kraai River. The vegetation supports a number of game animals, including eland, gemsbok, blesbok, springbok, black wildebeest, mountain reedbuck, steenbok, plains zebra, red hartebeest and ostrich. Location: Northern part of the region; east of Aliwal North. Access: From central Aliwal North turn into Barkly St and follow it for 1 km to the reserve entrance; clearly signposted. Another entrance is due to be opened, and access will then be from the R58 to Lady Grey. Accommodation: None. Aliwal North has hotels, a caravan and camping site and self-catering accommodation available at the Aliwal Spa. Other facilities: A network of gravel game-viewing roads. Open: Throughout the year. Opening time: October to April - 10h00 to 18h00; May to September - 11h00 to 17h30. Speed limit: 30 km/h
